labor and employment
GWT’s Employment Law Group offers wide ranging services, from preventive counseling, to advice on executive contracts, separation agreements and employment manuals, to full-scale litigation and trial work. Historically, our litigation practice has focused on defense of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and invasion of privacy claims, as well as assorted non-compete, trade secret, defamation, contract, and wage and tip disputes. Our employer clients run the gamut from medical practices, restaurants, real estate developers, and timeshare and resort operators, to local manufacturers and other service industries.
Preventive Counseling
Our employment lawyers are proud of their ability to navigate difficult situations. By consistently encouraging our employer clients to contact us first before making termination decisions impacting any employees that might be construed to be part of a protected class, we are able to anticipate and prevent problems before they arise. We find that this approach significantly minimizes the risk of litigation and administrative claims against our clients.

Employment Litigation
When disputes are unavoidable, our employment litigators have the talent and expertise to defend employers aggressively and efficiently in all types of litigation and arbitration. In addition to our trial skills, we also have excellent backgrounds in alternative dispute resolution, and are known for our ability to favorably resolve cases at their early stages. In a number of instances, we have obtained very favorable results prior to even summary judgment, at either the plaintiff’s deposition or early mediation.

Executive Compensation and Employment Agreements
In addition to our counseling and litigation practice, we also advise executive and other high level employees concerning their employment contracts and other agreements, and, if necessary, their exit strategies. When appropriate, the lawyers handling these projects work together with our litigators to design the most effective approach.
