RussiaLeonard Grayver Participates in Silicon Valley's first Venture Capital Trip to Russia

In May 2010, GWT sponsored Silicon Valley's first Venture Capital Trip to Russia. This event brought a delegation of two dozen managing partners from some of the leading venture capital firms in Silicon Valley to Moscow, Russia, where they learned about Russian technology companies and were introduced to the Russian market as a destination for potential investment. The participants met with Russian business elites, key government officials, well-known Russian entrepreneurs, major law firms and investment banks that serve clients operating in the Russian markets, and other technology executives and investors.

GWT's attorney, Leonard Grayver, led the panel on Legal Aspects of Investing in High-Tech Companies in Russia.

Architectural PreservationGWT Offers New Architectural Preservation Practice

On August 11, 2009, the University of Southern California’s School of Architecture conferred the degree of Master of Historic Preservation on GWT partner Michael J. Gibson. The degree represents five years of graduate study on the part of Mr. Gibson, and allows GWT to offer its real estate clients a rare expertise in the expanding sub-specialty of land use law that focuses on the preservation of architectural and landscape resources possessing historic or cultural value.

As chair of GWT’s new Architectural Preservation Group, Mr. Gibson will be advising private and governmental clients regarding such matters as complying with federal, state, and local preservation laws and regulations; adopting and amending preservation ordinances; establishing federal, state, and local landmark designations; qualifying for federal, state, and local tax incentives; establishing preservation easements; and forming and maintaining nonprofit organizations for preservation-related purposes.  The participation of both Mr. Gibson and his son David in USC’s commencement exercises in May of 2009 was noted in a number of USC publications, including http://college.usc.edu/news/stories/567/pomp-and-unusual-circumstance/
